Clean cut is where the glass is cut and sharp. Usually this goes into a frame, so no one is cut, a window where all edges are hidden or a picture frame etc.
An Arise edge is where the glass is lightly sanded for use in louvers, fishtank glass its wherever you don’t want a sharp edge, and someone could be cut.
A polished edge is the most common edge. Its mainly used on most mirrors, table tops and any shelving it give a smart shiny clean look.
The Bevel edge is used mainly on mirrors, or some table tops, the glass is ground down & polished. The bevels range from 15mm 20mm 25mm.
Toughened safety glass is a singular piece of glass that has been cut and the edges treated then put thru a furnace, this process makes it approximately 3 times stronger than standard glass.
Toughened glass is physically stronger and harder to break, but when it does break, it shatters into small pieces. While toughened glass leaves the area exposed, and crumbles to the floor.
Laminated safety glass is 2 pieces of glass that is laminated with a clear interlayer film giving it the strength, this process makes it approximately 1.5 times stronger than standard glass. This process makes it safer when broken, and when used right has security, thermal and noise reducing capabilities
Laminated glass stays intact when broken, similar to people driving a car with a cracked windscreen.
It breaks more easily than the safety glass.
Float Glass comes in a range of thicknesses - 2 mm, 3 mm,4 mm 5 mm, 6 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 15 mm, 19 mm.
